Crues Cruise through to the Final
Storming into a 3-0 lead in the first half hour at the Showgrounds (Ballymena),the Crues romped to 4-1 win over the Maiden City's Institute who had reached their first ever Irish Cup semi final. Institute gave a better account of themselves in the 2nd half with a penalty which Ramsey cooly tucked away. Scorers for a very good Crusaders performance were Owens,Doherty,Black and an own goal from Paddy McLaughlin.
It's been 41 years since the Crues have lifted the Irish Cup, but they wont know their opponents as Cliftonville and Linfield have it all to do again after a 0-0 draw at the Oval (Belfast).
The Blues and Wee Reds played out a fairly lacklustre game with very few chances at each end.McMullan was sent off for Cliftonville in the 66 min for his second yellow card offence but Linfield couldn't take advantage of their extra man.
The replay is on the 21st April, with the Final on the 9th May.
