Wolves are currently third in the table, hot on the heels of early leaders Orient and Peterborough, and striker Leigh Griffiths has been their main man during a profitable October.

The men from Molineux have won two and drawn the other of their three league games to date this month, and Griffiths has been on target on each occasion.

He scored two in the 3-0 win against Colchester, and maintained his impressive run with further strikes against Coventry (1-1) and Oldham (2-0), taking his league tally to nine goals in nine games.

Griffith's nine-goal haul puts him just one behind MK Dons' star performer Patrick Bamford who has plundered ten goals in 12 games since returning for a third loan spell from Chelsea.

Bamford was manager Karl Robinson's number one target in the summer, and the 19-year-old certainly hasn't disappointed. He's on loan to Dons until the New Year and Robinson says: 'He's as good a young player as you could get in this country.'

Coventry's Callum Wilson, also a contender for our September award, has maintained his fine form since the start of the season as the Sky Blues continue to make light of their ten-point deduction - and controversial 'home' switch to Northampton.

City have won seven and drawn three of their opening 13 games and but for their ten-point penalty for going into administration would currently be sitting fourth in the table, just behind neighbours Wolves.

Steven Pressley's men have picked up three wins and a draw so far in October, the latest and best coming this week in the form of a 3-1 victory over leaders Orient, so ending the O's unbeaten start to the season.

Wilson's strike partner Leon Clarke was on target in that game, adding to his brace against Sheffield United earlier in the month, but the man of the match this time out was captain fantastic Carl Baker who scored one and also provided an assist.

Manager Pressley said of his leader on the pitch: 'There is a great unity to the group, and that is epitomised by the skipper. Every player is playing with fantastic commitment.'

Despite the defeat Orient remain in top spot and once again September winner David Mooney is in contention for our coveted fans' award along with partner in goals Kevin Lisbie whose two goals in the recent 4-0 win at Tranmere took his tally for the season to nine.
