Northern Ireland fans to reach Maribor on Saturday ahead of the match.

ON Saturday 1,100 members of the Green and White Army will descend on Maribor for Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

It won't be an easy game and the players are well aware of the fact that this side will be out to cause them problems.

"Slovenia have had a good start to their campaign - they are a decent side and we know that it's going to be a difficult game on Saturday night," said Northern Ireland's Keith Gillespie. "But we have to go out there and try and get the three points."

Nigel Worthington's boys had a disappointing start to the campaign with an away defeat to Slovakia; however a few days later they turned things around with a well earned draw against a strong Czech Republic side.

"In the last campaign we lost our first game against Iceland and then we lifted ourselves for the game against Spain and let the football do the talking - and this is what happened as well at the start of this World Cup campaign. But what we have to do now is maintain our home form and improve on our away form," added the winger.

This weekend, Keith Gillespie is set to win his 84th cap, having made his debut 14 years ago in a home game against Portugal.

Former international, Mal Donaghy is Northern Ireland's most capped outfield player with 91 caps - a record which Gillespie is aiming to break.

"Hopefully I have another few years left in me," said the 33-year-old. "It is always an honour for me to play for Northern Ireland and it would be nice to get over 91 caps."
